Certificates of Origin

The content below has been cited from the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) “Certificate of Origin” page.

What is a Certificate of Origin, and why do we need one?
A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a document concerning internationally imported goods. According to the ICC’s website, “virtually every country in the world considers the origin of imported goods when determining the duty that will be applied to the goods or, in some cases, whether the goods may be legally imported at all.”

What’s the process for obtaining a Certificate of Origin?
A CO may be completed inside our Chamber Office. The cost is free for Chamber members and $75 per CO for non-members.
*Please note that “per CO” means that if you must complete multiple COs for one shipment, the cost is $75 for each of the COs completed.

The ICC’s website indicates “Millions of COs” are issued every year, facilitating trade around the world. Since 1898, Chambers of Commerce have been issuing non-preferential COs.”
