ABOUT THE EVENT
On Friday, December 29 at 7:30pm, the Pennsylvania Philharmonic will present the DUKES of Dixieland at Phoenixville Area Middle School and host a VIP New Orleans themed reception prior to the concert at 5:30pm.
Alongside the Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the DUKES of Dixieland will perform familiar New Orleans favorites “Midnight in Moscow,” “Clarinet Marmalade,” “What a Wonderful World,” and many others.
The DUKES bring traditional New Orleans Jazz into the 21st Century by combining elements of Zydeco, Pop, and Gospel Music. Their style ranges from Dr. John and Fats Domino, to Huey Smith and Louis Prima. With a history spanning over 40 years, and a repertoire of over 400 tunes, there will be something for everyone to enjoy at the concert.
With nearly 30 albums, 3 PBS television programs, and past performances with the Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago, National, New York Pops, and 29 other orchestras around the world, the DUKES of Dixieland are known as the official ambassadors of New Orleans.
This year, the Pennsylvania Philharmonic will celebrate Scott & Susan Bentley for their philanthropic work throughout the region. Immediately prior to the concert, guests are invited to attend a pre-concert dinner reception: A NOLA New Year. The family-friendly event will be New Orleans themed, and feature a Cajun menu created by John Wright Restaurant’s executive chef, Jim Switzenberg, Louisiana “mocktails,” raffles, and Mardi Gras fun. The concert will begin immediately following dessert.
Tickets to A NOLA New Year include premium concert seats. Space is limited, and reception tickets must be purchased by December 23.
