Victory or Death: Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton

Thursday, December 22, 2022 Victory or Death: Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Victory or Death: Washington’s Crossing of the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton”, on Thursday, December 22 at 6:45 PM. Michael Jesberger will be the speaker. Christmas is a season of joy and celebration. It is also a time to recall one of the American Revolution’s most memorable events. Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton were a major turning point in the war. The Continental Army captured most of the Hessian force that was garrisoned in Trenton, with only minimal American losses – a dramatic victory that boosted the battered army’s morale. This program will provide firsthand accounts of the river crossing, the details of the nine-mile march to Trenton, the battle and the impact left behind for us to remember today in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Join historical reenactor, lecturer and tour guide, Michael Jesberger for a presentation on the events of Christmas 1776. This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/victory-or-death or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Email Mark Pinto, Adult Services Director, at mpinto@ccls.org for more information. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
