ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library presents “A 19th Century Christmastide” with performer/lecturer Rick Spencer on Thursday, December 7 at 7:00 PM. For many the romance of Christmas is linked to a distant land, rituals of the past and some very evocative songs. Historical musician Rick Spencer will present a selection of Christmas songs that were popular at the end of the 1800s and are almost universally recognizable. He will offer commentary on the background and origins of the songs and the evolution of America’s 19th century Christmas traditions. He accompanies the songs on guitar, banjo, mandolin, concertina and Appalachian dulcimer. Audience members are welcome to sing along. This event is free and open to the public.

Reservations are required on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
