ABOUT THE EVENT
The American Revolution comes to life at Phoenixville Public Library in a two-part presentation on Thursday, January 16 at 7:00 PM. In part one of this presentation on the War of Independence, John Ebenreiter discusses the battles and skirmishes that took place leading up to and immediately following the British occupation of Philadelphia, including the encampment at Valley Forge.
In part two, living history reenactor Walter Hook gives an overview of the daily life of a private soldier in the Continental Army and will dispel certain myths about the Revolutionary War.
John Ebenreiter spent forty-seven years in the accounting field, mainly with Scott Paper Co. and Hercules, Inc. He serves as a docent at Brandywine Battlefield Park and is the author of “‘Bye, George, Blazing A New Nation: US War of Independence”.
Walter Hook is a member of the Circulation staff at Phoenixville Public Library who has had a lifelong interest in American history. He is a Revolutionary War living history reenactor who has “fought” at the battles of Brandywine, Paoli, and Germantown. He has given presentations on the life of a soldier at the Goschenhoppen Festival and local historical societies, and has volunteered at the Peter Wentz Farmstead. Walter is also an avid World War I aerohistorian.
