ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library and Diversity in Action invite you to a free virtual screening and discussion of the documentary film, An Outrage, about lynching in the American South, on Monday, November 16 at 7:00 PM. The 2017 film has a running time of 34 minutes. Filmed on-location at lynching sites in six states and bolstered by the memories and perspectives of descendants, community activists, and scholars, this unusual historical documentary educates and urges us to remember and reflect upon a long-hidden past. Learn more about the film at www.an-outrage.com. The screening will be followed by a short presentation on the lynching of Zachariah Walker in Coatesville, PA in 1911.
Diversity in Action will then lead a discussion and highlight the Phoenixville community’s current and future actions to take responsibility for this history.
This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. For optimal viewing, it is recommended that you watch this presentation on a device with a wired internet connection.
