ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host award-winning author Ira Poliakoff on Monday, April 8 at 7:00 PM. He will speak on his new book Synagogues of Philadelphia, which traces the history of the Jewish people in the Philadelphia region through the more than 500 synagogues that exist or have existed. Autographed copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Ira Poliakoff was born in New York City just as World War II was ending. As a young man, Ira served as Youth Director at several shuls in metropolitan New York and worked for the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism as a Field Worker. In 1973, he married Judith Braude and moved to Wynnewood, PA shortly thereafter. He later enjoyed a long, successful career in business. Ira and his family have been members of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El of Wynnewood for 38 years. He is blessed with two children and two grandchildren.
