ABOUT THE EVENT
Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for adults in their 20s and 30s, will meet next on Tuesday, May 28 at 7:00 PM at The Foodery, 325 Bridge Street, Phoenixville. The group will discuss Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic, Dune. Winner of the Hugo and Nebula awards, Dune is the sweeping tale of Arrakis, a desert planet. Melange, the “spice of spices,” is necessary for interstellar travel and grants psychic power and longevity. It becomes the focus of a power struggle between the Harkonnen Noble House and House Atreides. Cast out into the planet’s harsh environment, Duke Paul Atreides–perhaps super human, perhaps messiah–falls in with the Fremen to build the army to reclaim his due.
A copy of the book may be reserved at the Library or online at www.ccls.org. This event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. For more information, e-mail Christine Shaffer at shaffer.m.christine@gmail.com.
