ABOUT THE EVENT
Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s popular book discussion group for adults in their 20s or 30s, meets next on Tuesday, July 25, 7:30 PM, at The Great American Pub, 148 Bridge Street in Phoenixville. They will discuss The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. It began for our narrator forty years ago when the family lodger stole their car and committed suicide in it, stirring up ancient powers best left undisturbed. Dark creatures from beyond the world are on the loose, and it will take everything our narrator has just to stay alive: there is primal horror here, and menace unleashed – within his family and from the forces that have gathered to destroy it. His only defense is three women, on a farm at the end of the lane. The youngest of them claims that her duck pond is ocean. The oldest can remember the Big Bang. The book was the UK National Book Awards “Book of the Year” in 2013. A copy of this book may be reserved at the Library or at www.ccls.org. This event is free and open to the public. Reservations not required. Food and drink not included but will be available for purchase. For more information, contact Lindsay Friedenberg at lfriedenberg@gmail.com.
