ABOUT THE EVENT

Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for twenty- and thirty-something adults, will meet on Tuesday, December 27, 7:00 PM, at PJ Ryan’s Pub, 233 Bridge Street, Phoenixville. The group will discuss The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold. Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine and Mary-Jane are famous for the same thing, though they never met. What they had is common was 1888–the year they were murdered. Never apprehended, the “Ripper”–the persona created by his methods and the Press–was always thought to have preyed on prostitutes. Now the record is set straight as their true stories are uncovered in this award-winning nonfiction book. Physical copies of the book may be reserved at www.ccls.org. eBook copies may be reserved at https://chester.overdrive.com. This event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. For more information, email Christine Shaffer at shaffer.m.christine@gmail.com.
