ABOUT THE EVENT
Books on Tap, Phoenixville Public Library’s book discussion group for twenty- and thirty-something adults, will meet in person on Tuesday, July 26, 7:00 PM at La Patrona Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar, 400 Bridge St., Phoenixville. The group will discuss Helene Wecker’s bestselling novel, The Golem and the Jinni. An inventive tale of Chava and Ahmad, unlikely friends and soul mates with a mystical connection. Chava is a golem–a clay creature brought to life by a disgraced rabbi–is the wife of a man who dies at sea on their voyage from Poland. When the ship arrives in New York in 1899, Chava is unmoored and adrift. Ahmad is a Jinni–a being of fire born in the Syrian desert–trapped in an old copper flask. When released in NYC, Ahmad still is not entirely free. Copies of the book may be reserved at www.ccls.org. eBook and eAudiobook copies may be reserved at http://chester.overdrive.com. This event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Email Christine Shaffer at shaffer.m.christine@gmail.com for more information.
