ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free online presentation, “Bountiful Vegetable Gardens in the Era of Climate Change”, on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:00 AM. Chester County Library’s Elizabeth Alakszay and Phoenixville Public Library’s Christine Nicholson will be the presenters. Learn about the requirements to achieve a successful vegetable garden despite weather extremes brought on by climate change. Strategies for selecting and growing vegetables that can handle altered growing season parameters will be covered. They will explore how raised beds, containers, vertical growing, and watering techniques can ensure that your crops thrive. Techniques to minimize pest issues by creating a balanced ecosystem habitat will be discussed. There will be an in-depth example of how these approaches apply to tomatoes, both hybrids and heirloom. The online session will include Q&A, and reference materials from the presentation will be available.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. Reservations are required on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org in order to receive an invitation to join this online event. For more information, e-mail mpinto@ccls.org.
