ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free program on climate change and ways to prevent its adverse impacts on Monday, October 30 at 7:00 PM. Henry Alexander of Citizens’ Climate Change Lobby will be the speaker. In this program, attendees will learn about: the history of the placement of fossil fuels in the Carboniferous Period and the use of these fuels during the Industrial Revolution; the cause of recent climate change and how it is related to manmade greenhouse gases; reductions in greenhouse gas emissions needed to prevent excessive atmospheric warming, and the technological methods and economic drivers needed to achieve these reductions; and why a Carbon Fee and Dividend (CF&D) approach is the most direct economic and most sensible approach.
Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change. Their consistently respectful, non-partisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action across all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides, and empowering their supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, they work towards the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.
