ABOUT THE EVENT
Climate change expert and environmental activist Richard Whiteford will speak at Phoenixville Public Library on Monday, April 29 at 7:00 PM. In his free presentation, “Climate Change: Why Time is Running Out”, Richard will discuss the difference between climate and weather, what causes climate change, how scientists measure the changes and what visible observations there are. Learn why climate change has become politically controversial, and what is needed to avert the worst impacts of climate change.
Richard Whiteford is an internationally acclaimed public speaker, climate change expert, writer, and environmental activist. He serves on the Board of the World Information Transfer, an NGO at the United Nations and served as their delegate at the COP-21 Climate Summit in Paris in 2015. He is a member of the Climate Reality Project and Citizen’s Climate Lobby, and formerly worked for Defenders of Wildlife, The National Sierra Club, and The Highlands Coalition, and the Important Mammal Area Project for the National Wildlife Federation. Richard is the recipient of the Sierra Club Award for Environmental Activism (1998) and the National Sierra Club Environmental Hero Award (2006).
