ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library hosts the next event in the Community Gardening around the Village series, with a virtual presentation by Naomi Maloney entitled “Bounty from the Harvest”, on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 PM. Growing up in Hawaii, Naomi Maloney has been influenced in her cooking by the wonderful cultural diversity of the people and the beautiful tropical flavors that meet and meld there. Her program will focus on making a versatile foundational broth, and she will demonstrate how this can be used to create a wide range of delicious soups. The recipes will be easy, economical, filling, and healthy — comforting soups to warm and nourish your body and soul!
Naomi Maloney has been active for many years as a community educator and volunteer in various organizations in the Chester County area. Her love of gardening and cooking has led to her work with the Chester County Food Bank’s wonderful Seed-to-Supper program, a program that teaches the community to start their own healthy, nourishing home gardens. When not in the kitchen simmering soups, Naomi can be found playing outside in the dirt with fellow gardeners in Chester County who share her passion for plants, keeping the chicken coop comfortable for her hens, knitting ugly sweaters for her dogs (the only creatures willing to wear them), and using pinecones and plants to create “critters” for the Brandywine Museum of Art.
This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/harvest-bounty or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. For more information, email Adult Services Director Mark Pinto at mpinto@ccls.org.
