ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library hosts the next event in the partner-sponsored “Community Gardening around the Village” series on Monday, November 11, 6:30 PM at the Library. “Fast Ferments” will be presented by Naomi Maloney, who will share recipes and simple pickling techniques. Fermenting is a good way to use fall veggies from the garden and have side dishes for the holidays.
Naomi Maloney has been active for many years as a community educator and volunteer in various organizations in the Chester County area. Her love of gardening and cooking has led to her work with the Chester County Food Bank’s wonderful Seed-to-Supper program, a program that teaches the community to start their own healthy, nourishing home gardens. When not in the kitchen simmering soups, Naomi can be found playing outside in the dirt with fellow gardeners in Chester County who share her passion for plants, keeping the chicken coop comfortable for her hens, knitting ugly sweaters for her dogs (the only creatures willing to wear them), and using pinecones and plants to create “critters” for the Brandywine Museum of Art.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/fast-ferments or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Email mpinto@ccls.org for more information. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
