Phoenixville Public Library will host the next virtual presentation in the “Community Gardening around the Village” series on Monday, September 27 at 7:00 PM. Liz Alakszay will present “The Abundant Harvest: How to Preserve and Process Your Fruits and Vegetables”. Learn the techniques and timing for harvesting, the methods for short- and long-term produce storage, processing options and food safety, and seed saving, in this free lecture/demonstration.
Liz Alakszay is an avid organic gardener, naturalist, engineer and educator who has been gardening for over 40 years. The Penn State Extension Chester County Master Gardener Coordinator for over six years before retiring in 2017, she continues to lecture and hold numerous workshops throughout the SE PA region on horticultural topics including growing vegetables, pollinator gardens and landscaping with native plants. In addition to teaching numerous gardening classes for the Chester County Night School, she has worked at Longwood Gardens as a continuing education instructor and course designer on vegetable gardening. When not gardening or training and showing her two dogs, she works for PharmaLex Corporation overseeing and ensuring quality process operations internationally in the pharmaceutical industry.
