ABOUT THE EVENT

Dr. Stephanie T. “DJ” Jones. Dr. Jones will introduce the group to some of the basics of what Artificial Intelligence is, what corporations are promising, and how much of those promises are myths.
Bio: Dr. Stephanie T. “DJ” Jones received their PhD in Computer Science and Learning Science from Northwestern University. As a scholar of Power, Technology, and Learning she offers critical perspectives on education and STEM education towards just futures. Her research interests include examining how the humanities can help people grow as computing practitioners. Additionally, she received her Masters in Computer Science from Northwestern University, and her bachelors degrees in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Villanova University. Dr. Jones’ work has been published in venues such as Computer Science Education, ACM Interaction Design and Children, FabLearn, and the International Society of Learning Sciences. She is an emerging voice in national conversations around equity in technology education, with her work being highlighted by CS4All, ACM SIGCSE, and the Processing Foundation. Dr. Jones has a record of successful grant writing, being awarded the National GEM Consortium Fellowship, National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and more. Currently she is an AI Education Postdoctoral fellow with the Computing Research Association focused on the effects of changes in AI Education nationally.
