Edible Cinema featuring Tampopo

Edible Cinema featuring Tampopo

Saturday, February 22, 2020 Edible Cinema featuring Tampopo

ABOUT THE EVENT

Tampopo tells the tale of an enigmatic band of ramen ronin – including Ken Watanabe (Inception, The Last Samurai) in his breakthrough role – who guide the widow of a noodle shop owner on her quest for the perfect recipe. The film serves up a savory broth of culinary adventure, seasoned with offbeat comedy and the erotic exploits of a gastronome gangster. Sweet, sexy, surreal, and succulent, Tampopo remains one of the most delectable exemplars of food on film in a newly ramen-mad era. This film is appropriate for mature audiences. No one under 17 will be admitted.

This film event is part of a grant-funded series called Science on Screen. It features creative pairings of classic, cult, and documentary films with lively introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine. Science on Screen® is an initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, in partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Join us after the film screening for an engaging talk and Q&A with Dr. Danielle Reed, Associate Director of Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Reed is an expert on the influence of genes on food perception and taste.
Enhance your movie going experience with an Edible Cinema add-on and enjoy ramen noodles, popcorn, and a soft drink at 12:30 PM before the film.
