Eleanor Roosevelt: The Arc of Her Journey, Part 2

Thursday, March 02, 2017 Eleanor Roosevelt: The Arc of Her Journey, Part 2

ABOUT THE EVENT

Presented by

Ann Atkins, Historian and Author

in the Community Education Room

A quiet life for Eleanor Roosevelt is a misnomer for part two of her story. Hounded by the FBI, Eleanor’s file is 3,000 pages thick and the KKK has a $25,000 bounty on her head. On the world stage, she discovers that the name ‘United Nations’ is an oxymoron. Bridging the gap between prejudice and reality, Eleanor spends the last decades of her life helping the American people open their eyes to blind spots and to have the courage to change. Don’t worry if you missed part one of Ann’s presentation; she’ll recap.

Ann Atkins’ books have reached international shores and she has presented for the National Press Club, International Women’s Day in Washington DC, civic groups and universities. Ann has lived and worked in Korea, England and Germany. Her Master’s degree from Boston University encompasses studies at the University of Cambridge.
