ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will present duo cellists Eric Coyne and Julia Morelli in recital on Monday, March 26 at 7:00 PM. These two distinguished local performers and teachers will present a program of cello duets by Kummer, Bartok, Gliere, and Bach.

Eric Coyne has been an active teacher, performer, and chamber musician in the Philadelphia region since 2001. In addition to his work at Community Music School since 2002, he has been a faculty member of the Westminster Choir College Conservatory, the Nelly Berman School of Music, and The Music School of Delaware. He currently teaches music cello and chamber music at The Music School of Delaware, and has been a Master Faculty member of the Community Music School since 2009. From 2002-2005, he was ‘cellist of CMS’s ensemble-in-residence, the Mühlenberg Piano Quartet. Other performing ensemble commitments include Symphony in C, Prometheus Chamber Orchestra, Arcana New Music Ensemble, Berks County Opera, The Coyne/Woodard Cello & Piano Duo, and the Murmuration Improvisation Ensemble. He holds a B.M. in Cello Performance from the University of Iowa, an M.M. and Performance-Pedagogy Professional Certificate from Temple University, and is also a certified Suzuki instructor. Eric is a Master Level Faculty member at CMS, and coordinates the string department and chamber music program.

Julia Morelli received her Bachelor of Music at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana where she studied with Emilio Colon. She completed one year of her Master of Music degree at Boston University where she studied with the late Marc Johnson. Julia will be completing her Master of Music at Temple University in Philadelphia studying with Jeffrey Solow. She has enjoyed playing with Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, and Columbus Symphony Orchestra of Indiana. She has also played orchestral backup for popular music figures such as Michael Feinstein, Chris Botti, Dionne Warwick, Neil Sedaka, and the Ahn Trio. Miss Julia is the cello teacher at the Haverford School’s lower school. She also teaches for Tune Up Philly and PRYSM, in Philadelphia. Additionally, she teaches private lessons for cello students and has instructed cello students at Sierra Academy of Music in Mammoth Lakes, California.
