Wednesday, December 18, 2024 Fourth Wednesday Readers: “Small Things Like These”

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Fourth Wednesday Readers, Phoenixville Public Library’s in-person book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet at the Library on Wednesday, December 18 at 1:00 PM, one week earlier than usual. The group will discuss Claire Keegan’s award-winning, bestselling novel, Small Things Like These. It is 1985 in a small Irish town. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, Bill Furlong, a coal merchant and family man faces into his busiest season. Early one morning, while delivering an order to the local convent, Bill makes a discovery which forces him to confront both his past and the complicit silences of a town controlled by the church. Already a bestseller in France and certain to be read worldwide for generations to come, Small Things Like These is a deeply affecting story of hope, quiet heroism, and empathy. Book copies may be reserved at https://chesp.na.iiivega.com eBook and eAudiobook copies may be reserved at https://chester.overdrive.com. This event is free and open to the public.
