ABOUT THE EVENT
Sponsored by Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site
In the Community Education Room
Almost a hundred years ago, women in this country were finally given the right to vote. It came at a great cost to many who marched and spoke out about the lack of the woman’s voice in our history and life. Christine Emmert takes us on the journey with tears, laughter, and many companions including Sojourner Truth, Mark Twain, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and others — all important spirits that shaped a true democracy.
Christine Emmert is a writer, actress, director and educator. She holds a Masters in Humanities. Her belief in the arts as the transformer of lives goes deep. The piece she adapted with Katherine Mallon-Day, “The Yellow Wallpaper”, was performed to enthusiastic audiences at the Philadelphia Fringe last summer. Her novel, “The Nun’s Dragon”, is presently out on Amazon Kindle.
This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required on the Adult Events calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013, Ext. 132.
