ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Gerrymandering: One Person, One Vote? Not in PA!”, on Monday, July 17 at 7:00 PM. Lawrence Husick of FairDistrictsPA will be the speaker. Gerrymandering is the process of drawing political maps that allows elected officials to choose their voters, rather than voters choosing their officials. It’s a threat to democracy, and Pennsylvania has some of the most gerrymandered districts in the United States. FairDistricsPA is working to change this so that “We, the People” once again have a fair voice at the ballot box. Come to learn about this critical issue for the future of our democracy, and about what you can do to bring about change in Pennsylvania.
Lawrence Husick is an attorney, professor, entrepreneur, and counter-terrorism researcher. He is a graduate of Conestoga High School, Muhlenberg College and the Washington College of Law. He works for nonpartisan reform causes and represents FairDistrictsPA, a nonpartisan joint effort of the League of Women Voters and Common Cause of Pennsylvania.
This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013 x132.
