ABOUT THE EVENT
Join the Phoenixville Area School District as they attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records in the largest game of basketball knockout. The event will take place on Saturday morning, March 12th, 2016.
Note: attendees MUST register by February 26th, in order to receive a FREE t-shirt at the event!
The current record is 701 people and is held by the Dallas Mavericks NBA Basketball Team. We are hoping to bring well over 701 community members together for this great event and attempt!
Registration is open to all Phoenixville Community students, parents and teachers!
If you (participant) or your student has never played Knockout, THAT IS OK. We will distribute rules and demos on how to play the game. The point is that ALL members of the community participate regardless of basketball ability! Even though the event may take a few hours, you are free to leave the facility or stay to cheer once you are “knocked out.”
Please read the items below before registering:
1. Some Rules & Regulations – Competition rules and regulations are VERY specific. As an example, participants MUST follow standard basketball rules:
– Initial shot must from behind the foul-line
– When retrieving a missed shot, if player is moving with the ball, they must dribble it (no traveling)
– Additionally, if any player shoots an “air-ball” at any time, they are “knocked-out”
Additional rules will be shared as the Attempt date gets closer!
2. Participant Eligibility – Only Phoenixville Community students grades K-12, their parents/guardians, and teachers are eligible to sign-up and participate.
3. Adult Supervision K – 5th – ALL students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade must have a responsible adult in the facility for the duration of their student’s participation (one adult can attend for multiple participants, but they are then responsible for multiple participants). There will be adequate seating for all parents and guardians, either in the gymnasium, a classroom or auxiliary gymnasium.
4. Important – Once in the competition, leaving in the middle without being “knocked-out” puts the validity of the record in jeopardy – Our record can be disqualified. If you are signing-up, or signing-up a student, please know this competition could take approx. 4 hours in its entirety (NOTE: you will only be there if you or your student continues to advance in the competition – the vast majority of participants will NOT be there for four hours).
