ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free performance by local pianist Joe Kenney on Monday, December 17 at 7:00 PM. Kenney, acclaimed for his innovative merging of jazz, blues, and classical idioms, will perform selections from his current and forthcoming albums, including classical and jazz infused originals and covers of popular songs, along with arrangements of holiday songs.
Joe Kenney is a recording artist and virtuoso keyboardist from Philadelphia. His recordings are distinctly his: a cohesive blending of jazz fusion and classical idioms. A prolific songwriter and arranger, Kenney has garnered praise for his original compositions, reinterpretations of popular pieces, and arrangements — created for orchestra and smaller combos alike — of both original and cover material. In August 2018, Joe made waves as soloist with the Chesco Pops, under the direction of conductor Joe Gehring; classical works and the premiere of Kenney’s orchestral arrangement of “Zera” were performed in concerts taking place on two consecutive nights. In June 2018, with his full-band jazz fusion tunes starting to open some eyes, Joe signed on 212° Records with Carter Fox and Michael Tozzi of JJZ (smooth jazz radio) and iJazzGlobal. They will release Joe’s 4th studio album in the spring of 2019.
