ABOUT THE EVENT

Cyndi and her student, Amadea, share their life-changing journey to uncover the story of U.S. Navy Shipfitter 3rd Class Joseph Vasko, a Phoenixville native who lost his life in the D-Day invasion of World War II – a journey that took them to Washington, DC and the beaches, museums, people, and the American Cemetery in Normandy, France.

Chester County native Cyndi Hyatt teaches at Conestoga High School in Berwyn. She and Amadea were selected as one of 15 teacher/student teams from across the country to participate in the Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Institute.
