Monday, June 17, 2024 Juneteenth Celebration

ABOUT THE EVENT

This fun, educational and free event will be in the 200 Block of Bridge Street which will be closed for pedestrians and vendors. Juneteenth National Freedom Day illuminates the fact that slaves celebrated the abolishment of slavery with excitement and great joy. It is a reminder to all Americans of the status and importance of Americans of African descent as American citizens. For more than 140 years, Juneteenth National Freedom Day has been the oldest African American holiday observed in the United States. This event is organized by Diversity In Action, Black Light Projects, Orion Communities, Colonial Theatre, Trellis for Tomorrow, and Phoenixville Community Health Foundation.
