The Life & Death of the Schuylkill River

The Life & Death of the Schuylkill River

Sunday, June 04, 2017 The Life & Death of the Schuylkill River

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Schuylkill River Town Program has designated June as “Love Your Schuylkill Month”, and we encourage you to get out and explore the river and trail in your community and beyond! As part of Love Your Schuylkill Month, we’ll be running a series of recreational and educational programs up and down the river, from Phoenixville to Spring Mill.

As John Adams once wrote to his wife, Abigail, “I drink no cider, but feast on Philadelphia beer.”

Join us for an evening of spirits and history at Marly’s in Phoenixville, as the Schuylkill River Town Program presents a fact and fun-filled program about the Schuylkill River – from its role as lifeblood of the Industrial Revolution and the “workshop of the world”, to a fiery open sewer, and finally to its recent rebirth as 2014 River of the Year and home to bald eagle and shad. Learn the incredible story of how the river has shaped our community and the nation!

To start us off, we will sample products from local breweries and distilleries. Free, but an RSVP is requested.
