Local Author Event: Ivan Stiles: “Good, Bad, Verse”

Monday, April 06, 2026 Local Author Event: Ivan Stiles: “Good, Bad, Verse”

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a local author event on Monday, April 6, 6:30 PM, at the Library. In celebration of National Poetry Month, well-known local musician Ivan Stiles presents a book of poetry written by his mother, Barbara Bennett Talley. Good, Bad, Verse is a slyly entertaining collection of humorous light verse that delights in life’s small absurdities and poetic missteps alike. With a wink toward both polished wit and intentionally dreadful rhyme, the book celebrates poems that succeed brilliantly, fail spectacularly, and—most often—do a little of both at once. Its verses toy with language, expectations, and human foibles, offering clever observations, groan-worthy puns, and playful rhythms that invite readers to laugh at poetry even as they enjoy it. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at this event. This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/stiles-good-bad-verse or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Email mpinto@ccls.org for more information. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
