in the Carnegie Room

Come join us on a virtual journey through the streets of Rome, following in the footsteps of one of the greatest Renaissance artists: Michelangelo. Together we will explore the meteoric rise of Michelangelo’s career from a relatively unknown artist to one of the giants of his time. Using Google Maps, we will zoom into the very locations where his masterpieces reside, from his “Pieta,” the Sistine ceiling, and the “Last Judgement,” to his last work, the dome of the Vatican. Through this journey, you will receive an appreciation of Michelangelo’s personality, both his internal struggles and those he shared with patrons, and the degree to which his genius left its indelible mark on the Eternal City.
