Mindfulness Workshop Series

Monday, January 22, 2024 Mindfulness Workshop Series

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free, four-week workshop series on mindfulness with mindfulness educator and consultant Bernadette Smith. The sessions will be held Mondays, January 22 through February 12 from 6:45 to 7:45 PM. What is mindfulness and why should we try it? Mindfulness means taking time in our lives to notice what’s happening right now with kindness towards ourselves. Why try it? Many studies conclude that these practices can foster better focus and concentration, an increased sense of calm, decreased stress and anxiety, improved impulse control, increased self-awareness, skillful response to difficult emotions, increased empathy and understanding of others, and development of natural conflict resolution skills. The pandemic has added another layer of stress to our lives and mindfulness can help us build resilience and compassion for ourselves and others.

In this 4 week series, participants will explore mindful listening, breathing, walking, paying attention to our thoughts and emotions, body awareness, loving-kindness, and gratitude. Discussions will include planning and sustaining a practice, topics from Real Happiness by Sharon Salzberg, benefits of journaling, and how mindfulness can help us enjoy our lives more!

This series is free and open to the public. Registration for each session is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Attendance at each session is encouraged but not required. Email mpinto@ccls.org for more information. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
