ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “NAMI In Our Own Voice”, on Thursday, October 12 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The session will be led by Sara Wein, MSS, MLSP, LSW, Executive Director of NAMI Chester County PA. NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) In Our Own Voice presentations change attitudes, assumptions and ideas about people with mental health conditions. This presentation offers a personal perspective of mental health conditions. Leaders with lived experience will talk openly about what it’s like to have a mental health condition. The presentation will provide: an opportunity to hear open and honest perspectives on a highly misunderstood topic; a chance to ask leaders questions, allowing for a deeper understanding of mental health conditions and dispelling of stereotypes and misconceptions; the understanding that people with mental health conditions have lives enriched by hopes, dreams and goals; and information on how to learn more about mental health and get involved with the mental health community. This program is free and open to the public. Registration is required at https://ccls.libcal.com/calendar/Phoenixville/in-our-own-voice or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
