ABOUT THE EVENT
The Phoenix Book Club will meet next on Monday, May 1, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, at Phoenixville Public Library. The group will discuss Walden by Henry David Thoreau. In July 1845, Henry David Thoreau built a small cottage in the woods near Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. During the two years and two months he spent there, he began to write Walden, a chronicle of his communion with nature that became one of the most influential and compelling books in American literature. This year marks the 200th anniversary of Thoreau’s birth. A copy of the book may be reserved at the Library or at www.ccls.org. The public is invited to attend.
