
ABOUT THE EVENT
The Phoenix Book Club, Phoenixville Public Library’s online book discussion group for adults of all ages, will meet virtually on Monday, January 9 at 7:00 PM. The group will discuss Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning bestseller, Hamnet: A Novel of the Plague. England, 1580. A young Latin tutor–penniless, bullied by a violent father–falls in love with an extraordinary, eccentric young woman. Agnes is known for her healing gifts and knowledge of plants, animals and potions. Settling with her husband in Stratford, she becomes a fiercely protective mother as well as a force in her husband’s writing life. The story of a family shattered by grief when their beloved son succumbs to the bubonic plague. This event is free and open to the public and will be held online via Zoom.
