ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Town Watch is partnering with the Borough’s first responders and community organizations to offer a free National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Grace Crossing Community Church, Gay and Church Streets from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. This campaign is designed to unite, educate and inspire neighbors to take an active role in creating safe communities.

In the Borough of Phoenixville, National Night Out is hosted by Phoenixville Town Watch, Phoenixville Police Department and Grace Crossing Community Church at 248 Church Street in downtown Phoenixville.  Members of the Phoenixville Emergency Services, Phoenixville Police & Fire Departments, Trappe Ambulance, Friendship Fire Company DivingRescue Unit, Chester County Station 77, The Army National Guard, and the Air National Guard will be in attendance along with representatives from the Chester County Sheriff’s Department.

Free refreshments have been donated by Grace Crossing Commuity Church members, Foresta’s Market, WaWa, Giant, Rite Aid, Infinito’s Pizza Buffet, Petrucci’s Ice Cream & Water Ice, Herr’s, Redners, Walgreens, BB&T Bank, Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, Bank of America, Videon Chevrolet and The Phoenixville Police Association.

The event features live music from local musicians in the “Paul Wentworth Band.”  Crafts, face painting and a karate demonstration by Satori Dojo Cuong Nhu Oriental Martial Arts will entertain younger attendees while community organizations will host exhibits to provide information on a variety of services.

The National Association of Town Watch introduced National Night Out in August of 1984 through an already established network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and volunteers across the nation. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states.

Today, thirty eight million neighbors in sixteen thousand communities across the nation take part in National Night Out.
