ABOUT THE EVENT
In Phoenixville, there is a powerful collective ambition to elevate our sense of community and culture. We work as that community to surround ourselves with art, fortify what establishes us as a tourist destination, empower our youths, and uplift and engage the community as a whole. It has been those efforts that inspired our team to add a local film festival to the long list of the township’s achievements and sources of pride.
We are calling this upcoming festival (September 21st -24th, 2023) the “First Annual” PFF because our goal is to give our many local filmmakers and film-lovers something to look forward to year after year – a chance to meet other creatives, network, and revel in the camaraderie that only collaborative creatives can have. We want to put stories that amplify marginalized narratives, shed light on all cultures, creeds, and ways of life. All officially selected films to play on the iconic Colonial Theatre screen are made with the spirit and gumption of independent filmmaking, and we want to show anyone willing to join our audience that they can be part of this art form whether that means paving their way in front of or behind the camera, or simply by supporting the independent film industry with their patronage.
In order to achieve that goal, we are organizing film screenings, workshops, panels, and outside events to help draw non-native filmmakers and patrons to the area. There will also be afterparties every night of the festival, so please come out to support the films and join the camaraderie!
