
ABOUT THE EVENT
Calling all seniors! Keep your mind fresh and active by taking a 5 week course presented by the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation’s Senior Academy and Widener University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute!
Dates: October 7, 14, 21, 28; November 4
Instructor: Julian McCracken
Description: We will learn how Major League Clubs got their nicknames; look at Baseball in the Movies, Baseball in Music and Baseball Uniforms; converse about the great story of Negro League Baseball; examine the glorious history of Baseball’s Mid-Summer Classic: the All-Star Game; explore the world of baseball Cards and Baseball Memorabilia; discover the phenomenon behind Fantasy Baseball; and finally, have a dialogue about the rich history of Baseball’s World Series and Playoffs. The will be two guests: Lou Beccaria will talk about baseball bats and Chuck Benz who is an avid collector of Baseball Memorabilia. Join in on this “Potpourri of Baseball’ as we enjoy a little bit of everything about the sport that is widely acclaimed as America’s National Pastime.
