ABOUT THE EVENT

Laura Keen, photographer

Monday, January 30

6:30 — 8:30 PM

in the Community Education Room

Whether you prefer a smartphone or a camera, this comprehensive session will elevate your photography skills by teaching the fundamentals of lighting, composition, portraiture and technique. Following the instruction, participants will conduct a photo shoot in the Library’s Carnegie Room to gain immediate application of skills. Led by an award-winning photographer, this session will be both fun and valuable for all levels of interest.

Laura Keen is a fashion, event and portrait photographer and a native of Lancaster, PA. With a portfolio initially comprised largely of “No Trespassing” sites, urban decay and rust as the backdrop to musicians, models, actors and artists, Philadelphia and NYC based Laura began gathering fashion industry clients as diverse as Urban Outfitters, L.A.M.B, Artificial Intrigue and Details Magazine as well as working as still photographer for numerous films. Keen has done portraiture within the last year for Bradley Cooper, Marianne Faithfull, Adrien Brody, Markus Reuter, Tony Levin, Adrian Belew, Zooey Deschanel (twice) and Sharlto Copely, among others, and has extended into wedding events and family portraiture, preferring to remain unclassified in any one genre. Her mantra, “life doesn’t happen in studios”, always makes for fun and positive energy-infused shoots that are designed to keep clients true to self.
