Returning Humanity to the Moon: Artemis II

Monday, April 27, 2026 Returning Humanity to the Moon: Artemis II

ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Returning Humanity to the Moon: Artemis II”, on Monday, April 27, 6:30 PM, at the Library. NASA Solar System Ambassador Don Miller will be the speaker. The last spacecraft to land humans on the moon was the Apollo 17 mission in 1972. After a 50 year hiatus, NASA is planning a return to the moon in a series of upcoming missions. This presentation will discuss the overall goals of the Artemis program, the separate missions involved, and even tell you how to have your name go on a trip around the moon. The Artemis II mission has taken four humans further from Earth than ever before and tested out the systems for the next mission, Artemis III, when we land on the moon. Bring your wonder for the universe and man’s exploration of space.

Donald Miller is a NASA Solar System Ambassador, life-long amateur astronomer, and astronomy/astrophysics enthusiast. He is a member of the Chester County Astronomical Society and is frequently found at night in his backyard using his telescope.

This event is free and open to the public. The program will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
