ABOUT THE EVENT
Concordia Choral Arts, a member of the Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce, will present the second annual concert in recognition of the United Nations International Day of Peace, entitled RISE UP AND SING! on Sunday, October 6th, 2019, at 3:00 pm, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 355 St. John’s Circle, Phoenixville, PA, 19460. The community is invited and the concert is free and appropriate for all ages. Free parking is available at the church, which is disability accessible.
For over 30 years, the United Nations has encouraged individuals, schools. communities, and nations to set aside time to honor peace-keeping activities and to promote these to our area youth. RISE UP AND SING! is the second annual community event of this nature in Phoenixville, and will feature music from area choirs, musicians, storytellers, and artists. Our goal is to bring together musicians and musical artists of all ages in this non-partisan, non-religious celebration of music and peace. Our vision is to reach out to include even more individuals in our community.
This year Concordia Choral Arts will present the first RISING ARTIST VOCAL SCHOLARSHIP to a young area musician. The RISING ARTIST VOCAL SCHOLARSHIP was developed to promote music education, enrichment, and appreciation in children ages 8-13. Our vision is the expansion of this scholarship to attract more young musicians to participate in vocal music.
