ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free classical recital by Seriously Flutes on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 PM. Seriously Flutes is the flute duo of Julee Belsterling and Cindy Durrell. Together, they’ll present a program of duets by Vivaldi, Telemann, Kuhlau, Albeniz, Mozart, and others.
Julee began her musical journey on piano at age four, adding clarinet at age nine. She earned a B.S. in Music Education and a Master’s in Conducting from East Carolina University. She travelled throughout the United States and Canada, teaching marching band clinics, show design and color guard choreography. She has also judged numerous marching band and drum corps competitions. Somewhere along the way, flute became her instrument of choice. After twenty eight years on the road, Julee is now retired and focuses on solo and ensemble. She also performs with the Montgomery County and Pottsgrove Community Bands.
Cindy earned a B.S. in Music Education from Penn State University, and has completed graduate Music Education courses at both West Chester University and Duquesne University. She is currently on faculty at the Community Music School in Trappe, teaching flute, piccolo and the Children’s Choir. She has over fifteen years of experience teaching students of all ages; from private and group instruction to directing bands and choirs. Cindy also performs with the Red Hill Band, the Audubon Symphony and at St. Eleanor’s Church, where she directs the Contemporary Ensemble and Youth Choir.
This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013 x132.
