ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Snapchat Safety for Parents”, on Tuesday, October 6, 6:30 PM, at the Library. Attorney Zachary Yurick will be the speaker. Led by a former child abuse prosecutor currently representing harmed families against Snap Inc., this presentation about online safety addresses how dangerously vulnerable Snapchat leaves our youth. The session teaches parents exactly how predators manipulate features to target and exploit kids, alongside the warning signs of social media addiction. In addition to learning Snapchat’s implementable safety features, attendees will walk away with practical, immediate strategies and a “Digital Defense Checklist” to actively monitor behavior, spot red flags, and make the app safer for their teens today.
Zachary Yurick is a dedicated trial attorney who has spent his career serving as a fierce voice for vulnerable children and crime victims. As a former Assistant District Attorney in the Chester County Child Abuse Unit, Zack’s relentless advocacy earned him the 2023 Prosecutor of the Year award and the 2024 John J. Crane Award for Advocacy from the Crime Victims’ Center of Chester County. After years of putting adult exploiters behind bars, Zack, in part, chose to leave criminal prosecution after repeatedly witnessing how Snapchat’s product design facilitated predators gaining direct access to minors. Recognizing that real protection requires systemic accountability, he transitioned to civil litigation at Goldberg, Goldberg & Maloney to represent families in lawsuits against Snap Inc. Zack leverages his unique investigative background to expose platform vulnerabilities, hold tech giants legally responsible, and provide communities with the critical education and awareness parents need to protect their children.
