ABOUT THE EVENT
Relive the “Golden Age” of radio as you celebrate the holidays with the Spirit of the Airwaves Players (S.O.A.P.) on Thursday, December 21 at 6:15 PM at Phoenixville Public Library. They will perform Christmas episodes of Our Miss Brooks; Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel (The Marx Brothers); and Duffy’s Tavern, complete with classic jingles and commercials.
The Spirit of the Airwaves Players are a troupe of entertainers who perform annually at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s WWII Weekend in Reading, PA. Radio may be the “Theater of the Mind,” but whether your eyes are open or closed, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time. Ladies in seamed stockings, gentlemen in fedoras—the performers of S.O.A.P. recreate the 1930s and ‘40s in every detail. They dress in vintage clothing and accessories, and use vintage microphones, too. S.O.A.P.’s sound effects department also uses authentic techniques of the era. You won’t want to miss this very special presentation!
