ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation on controlling the invasive spotted lanternfly on Monday, April 1 at 7:00 PM. Peg Friese, a Master Watershed Steward with the Penn State Extension, will be the speaker. The Spotted Lanternfly (SLF), Lycoma deliculata, is a new invasive insect that has spread throughout southeastern Pennsylvania since its discovery in Berks County in 2014. SLF presents a significant threat to Pennsylvania agriculture, including the grape, tree fruit, hardwood and nursery industries, which collectively are worth nearly $18 billion to the state’s economy. At this presentation, you will learn more about this invasive pest, and how you can help control the impact to your community through the different stages of its life cycle. This event is free and open to the public.
Reservations are required on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013 x132. Phoenixville Public Library is located at 183 Second Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
