ABOUT THE EVENT

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free online program on “Sustainable Investing” on Monday, May 11 at 7:00 PM. Ethan Quirin, CEO of Financial Dogma, and Courtney Quirin, a filmmaker, will be the presenters.

The program will begin with a showing of Courtney’s 25-minute documentary, “The Georgia Girl”. “The Georgia Girl” follows a father-son salmon fishing trip out of Vancouver, BC to tell a tale about the decline of small-scale commercial fishing. Duncan Cameron, 26, is one of the few young fishermen left as small-scale fishing crumbles under the thumb of large corporations and poor regulation and enforcement. Unwilling to compromise his livelihood, which goes back five generations, Duncan decides to bypass the traditional route of selling to large seafood corporations in order to instill transparency into a broken food system. Please note that while this film is not officially rated, it contains some R-rated language.

Following the film will be a brief discussion of how an individual can use different investment strategies to support companies that promote sustainable living. The discussion will focus on basic terminology, fundamental concepts, and the different types of investments available. This program is best viewed on a device with a wired Internet connection.

This event is free and open to the public, and will be held online via the Zoom platform. Reservations are required on the Adult Programs Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org in order to receive an invitation to attend the online program.
