ABOUT THE EVENT
Phoenixville Public Library hosts the next installment of “Talkin’ Baseball with Julian and Lou”, virtually, on Thursday, November 4 at 7:00 PM. Join Phoenixville’s Julian McCracken and Lou Beccaria as they lead a lively discussion of the Philadelphia Phillies while giving you the opportunity for you to show off your favorite baseball memorabilia.
First, Julian & Lou lead a discussion of the Phillies in 2022. Specifically, what do they need to look like to better compete for the playoffs? For the past decade, Phillies fans have been left out in the cold during the warmth of playoff season. The ever-faithful fans have been promised each year that a competitive product would be produced by upper management, but to no avail! It’s time for faithful fans to take matters into their own hands. If you were the team owner or general manager, what would you do, realistically, to change things to finally get the Phillies into the ever-elusive playoffs in 2022? Then, you are invited to do a “show and tell” about your favorite piece of baseball memorabilia, on camera. Along the way, Julian and Lou will interject some baseball trivia questions and give away a copy of Essentials of Professional Baseball: Balls, Bats & More!, featuring a chapter written by Lou, to the person who answers the most questions correctly.
Phoenixville’s Julian McCracken is a former General Manager of the Reading Phillies and member of the Reading Baseball Hall of Fame who later worked for ProCards in Pottstown and Fleer Trading Cards in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Phoenixville resident Lou Beccaria is the former President and CEO of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation and has played high school, college, and semi-pro baseball in Philadelphia, coached youth baseball, and written about baseball.
