ABOUT THE EVENT
June 7, 2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dean Martin, one of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th century. Phoenixville Public Library will host Dave DeLuca’s one-man show, “That’s Amore!: A Century of Dean Martin” on Thursday, June 1 at 7:00 PM. Dean Martin was nicknamed “The King of Cool” for his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assuredness. He and Jerry Lewis were partners in the internationally acclaimed comedy team Martin and Lewis. And he was a member of Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack as well as a star in concert and in recordings, motion pictures, and television.
In his one-man show, Dave DeLuca imitates Martin’s relaxed, warbling crooning voice as he performs signature songs such as “Memories Are Made of This”, “Everybody Loves Somebody”, “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You”,” Volare”,” Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”, and “That’s Amore”.
New Jersey native Dave DeLuca is an accomplished singer, songwriter, musician and recording engineer who has been performing for over 30 years. He is a member of the Songwriter’s Guild of America and has had songs published by BMI. In December 2011, Dave auditioned for and won a starring role in the Count Basie Theatre’s “5th Annual Sinatra Birthday Bash,” beating out hundreds of other hopeful performers. He is currently overseeing production of “The Star-Spangled Songbook”, a tribute to the great American composers and lyricists who crafted our body of popular standards, for a future airing on PBS.
