The Geography of Pennsylvania

Monday, July 08, 2019 The Geography of Pennsylvania

ABOUT THE EVENT

Hear the stories behind Pennsylvania’s geographical regions in a free presentation, “The Geography of Pennsylvania”, at Phoenixville Public Library on Monday, July 8 from 7:00 to 8:15 PM. Teacher and geographer Paul Kelley will be the presenter. Driving across Pennsylvania, you’ll notice a highly varied landscape, but how much do you really know about it? Join Paul Kelley in an engaging exploration of the state with maps, photos, and personal stories. Learn how Pennsylvania’s geographical regions came to be and see how much the distant past has shaped today’s human landscapes. Whether it’s rolling farmland, forested mountains, a tiny village, sprawling metropolis, or a broad river winding through them all, you can bet there’s a story there waiting to be told. So come hear a few of them for yourselves.

Paul Kelley grew up in suburban Philadelphia. He earned a BA from Macalester College in St. Paul, majoring in Environmental Studies and Geography. He later earned an MA and PhD in Geography from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After returning to the East Coast in 2007, Paul began exploring his home state and creating lifelong courses on Pennsylvania geography, travel literature, native plant gardening, and beginner’s astrology.
