Phoenixville Public Library will host a four-lecture series, “The History of World War II in Western Europe from D-Day to the Surrender of Germany”, on Thursdays from February 20 through March 13 at 6:00 PM. Author/lecturer Michael Snyder will be the presenter. By June 1944, World II in Europe had been going on for almost five years. During that time Nazi Germany had occupied a large part of the continent. This series, by lecture, PowerPoint, and maps, will cover WWII’s battles beginning with the D-Day operations in Normandy, the fighting in the Norman bocage, the breakout, Operation Market Garden, the fighting in the Hurtgen Forest, the Battle of the Bulge, the crossing of Rhine River, and the German surrender. The programs are free and open to the public. The programs will also be livestreamed on Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
